Greek stocks ended higher after five days of correction in the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The composite index of the market rose 0.94 pct to end at 1,270.34 points, on the day’s highs, after losing 4.87 pct in the previous five sessions. Turnover was a strong 115 million euros.
The Large Cap index rose 1.03 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.20 pct higher. Piraeus Bank (4.76 pct), Terna Energy (3.64 pct), Folli Follie (3.47 pct) and MIG (2.8 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Athens Water (1.81 pct), Eurobank (1.76 pct), Jumbo (1.48 pct) and Alpha Bank (0.83 pct) suffered losses.
The Media (7.95 pct), Commerce (3.45 pct) and Chemicals (3.41 pct) sectors scored big gains, while Personal Products (0.74 pct), Real Estate (0.49 pct) and Health (0.28 pct) suffered losses.
Broadly, advancers led decliners by 68 to 63 with another 17 issues unchanged. Ilyda (28.6 pct), AXON Holdings (20 pct) and Medicon (19.84 pct) were top gainers, while Varvaresos (19.85 pct), Epsilon (13.3 pct) and Selonda (11.82 pct) were top losers.
