National Meteorological Service of Greece (EMY) warns of extreme weather conditions with rain and possibly hail expected this afternoon. Wind velocity is expected to climb to seven or eight on the Beaufort scale. The turn in the weather will come late this afternoon and possibly on Saturday morning.

Due to the high velocity of winds there will be a high fire danger in east mainland Greece (including Attiki), the Peloponnese, Thessaly, Halkidiki, North Aegean islands and the Cyclades, warns the General Secretariat of Citizen Protection.
