The failure of the British Prime Minister Mr.David Cameron to block the election for the throne of the European Commission Presidency of Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, is one step closer to the exit of Britain from the EU, says the British press in its assessment.
But opinions differ as to who is responsible, Mr.Cameron or the Brussels, which has now become even more difficult to convince the British to stay in the EU if a referendum accurse on the issue in 2017.
Cameron has committed to hold a referendum on Britain’s future in the EU in 2017, if re-elected in the parliamentary elections of 2015.
“One more step towards the exit of Europe”, says the Daily Telegraph. The Daily Mail, which maintains a cautious attitude towards the EU, states that “The Lost Cameron is the lost Rooney in Europe”, making a reference to the footballer Wayne Rooney, who participated in the national team of England and was eliminated in the first phase of World Cup.
The newspaper The Times reports on its first page: “Britain near the exit of the EU.” But the newspaper believes that the country will have better luck in a ‘great confinement, “and adds that the British Prime Minister” has strengthened the position of Britain maintaining a strong opposition “and increased its chances of winning the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The Independent refers to “a beating, a disaster.” “This excellent isolation is not the way to gather arguments for the EU”, underlines the newspaper. The Guardian also notes that “Britain is close to exit from the EU after Juncker’s election”, while the Sun says” Cam, we are at war with the EU. ”
Finally, the Financial Times analyze what characterizes “a historic change of power in the EU” and “a dangerous time for Britain’s relations with Europe.”
