The French team has left an excellent impression during the group phase and show that they are ready to go far. The Nigerians, a clear underdog for this tried their hardest to keep back their opponents and score on a break or from a set-piece.

The first half ended with both teams having a lot of chances to score, and the game was undecided.

This only lasted until the 79th minute, however, as Paul Pogba, after an unsuccessful exit from the Nigerian goalkeeper, sent the ball flying in the back of the net with a good header.

Things only got worse for Nigeria, as Nigerian national Joseph Yobo scored an own goal on the 90th minute, “sealing” his team’s fate.
