A meeting with the Minister of Justice Transparency and Human Rights Mr. Charalambos Athanassiou, the General Ministry Secretary Mr. Nikos Kanellopoulos and CEO “Themis Construction SA” Mr. Vasilis Handakas, had today the newly elected Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Giannis Moralis and other members of the city, on the subject of the Courts of Piraeus to remain in the boundaries of the municipality.
Mr. Moralis reiterated the uncompromising position of the combination “Piraeus Winner ‘for the Courts in Piraeus, since the Minister made it clear that there is no issue of unfitness at Ralleiou.
Giannis Moralis has asked the Minister for a four month deadline, until the 30th of October when he assumes his duties as the new mayor on the 1st of September, in cooperation with other bodies of the city in order to submit a proposal.
The newly elected Mayor stated that he is opposed to the proposal for the temporary relocation of the Courts in the Keranis building and he has asked for the Courts return in the Ralleiou after the necessary reconstruction.
The new Municipal Authority of Piraeus has set a priority to resolve the issue of the courts remaining in the city and therefore will continue contacts in this direction.
