Brazil-Colombia, 2-1(FT)

The two national teams clash, and the heat is on in every sense of the way

Newsroom July 4 11:00

The two South American teams battled it out. Brazil are obviously wanting to go all the way past the “8” to the final. Colombia, however, had shown an amazing willingness to battle through every obstacle, and gave it all they had. The game had passion and a thirst for victory, in equatorial Fortaleza, where it was over 30 degrees Celsius.

The first goal came by Thiago Silva after a corner, giving the lead to Brazil, just short of the completion of the 7th minute!

Colombia kept fighting, and though the second half was filled with fouls, during the 66th minute, and after a messy free kick in, the ball went to the back of the net, however, the flag was raised, and the equalizer didn’t count.

Two minutes later or so, in the 69th minute, David Luiz, with a wonderful free kick sent the ball in the top left of Ospina’s goal, making it 2-0 for Brazil. At the same time, Colombia heavily complained about the free kick and the subsequent yellow card on James Rodriguez.

Ten minutes later, in the 80th minute, after Julio Cesar illegally challenged a Colombian attacker in the box, the penalty was successfully struck by James Rodriguez, giving Colombia a last fighting chance. The Brazilian goalkeeper should have received a red card, but the referee judged otherwise.
