As announced by the police, a German national was abducted by gunmen in Adamawa in Nigeria on Wednesday.
The state from which the man was taken is one of the three in northeastern Nigeria that have been in a state of emergency because of the violence perpetrated by the Islamist group Boko Haram.
The police spokesman of the Adamawa state, Abubakar Othman stated that: “Members of security forces are working diligently in order to locate the kidnappers and release the hostage”.
The representative of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the authorities “have been informed about the case,” but did not want to give more details.
According to residents of the city of Gobi, the abducted was working as a teacher in a public school in the city.
The witness further stated that about 20 armed men on motorbikes arrived at about 6:45 (local time, 8:45 GMT) in front of the home of the German victim while he was on his way to work. However, for the moment no organization has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
