Government Vice-President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will be in Brussels today  in order to attend the meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council and General Affairs Council of the European Union.

Regarding the situation in Gaza and the developments in Ukraine Mr. Venizelos upon his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council stressed the need to accept the Egyptian initiative for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying:

“We need to focus our efforts on the acceptance of the Egyptian proposal, the Egyptian initiative. We supported this initiative from the beginning, as the only solution that can lead to an immediate ceasefire in the region.”

Regarding the air disaster in eastern Ukraine, he underlined that “the key point is to fully implement the Decision of the UN Security Council. We must respect the innocent victims”
