Huffington Post published an article on the Greek island of Chios and described it as the most magical Greek island.

“If Greece has a magical island, Chios is definitely it” says the article, noting, though, that few tourists know its existence and choose it as their holiday destination.

According to the Huffington Post, Chios is mostly famous for “its cultivation and production of mastic”.

As the article states, mastic can be used for various purposes, from functional (in varnishes and paints) to medical to edible. Also, it mentions that visitors can buy mastic-based jams, sweets and local liqueurs.

“It is an aromatic resin that forms in teardrop shapes that comes from trees growing in the fertile Mastihohoria region” the article says about mastic and urges readers to visit the island and try of course the mastic.

Among other things, Huffington Post refers to the largest mastic village, Pyrgi, where the buildings are decorated with geometric patterns, “that are like nothing you’ve ever seen”.

And if that is not enough, says the article, tourists can also visit Nea Moni monastery, an old historic monastery which in 1990 was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and of course the amazing beaches of the island.
