The entrance of the ancient tomb’s peribolos on Kasta Hill in the archaeological site of Ancient Amphipolis near Serres, northern Greece, has been covered with special shelters to protect the carved Sphinxes unearthed and the archaeologists participating in the excavations from ultraviolet radiation and curious visitors.

Archaeologists continue their intensive work despite the high temperatures, moving slowly and carefully.

Meanwhile, visitors, mainly from northern Greece, flock to Messolakia and try to get close to the excavation site. Some of them have even special telescopes in order to see the findings. However, the site is protected by police men who do not allow anyone to approach.
