Government spokesperson Sofia Voultepsi late on Tuesday accused main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras of neglecting to mention to the peach farmers he met with in northern Greece earlier on Tuesday that through being a member of the European Union, Greece has received from it over 150 billion euros for its agricultural products, rural development and compensation for various causes.
Following the SYRIZA leader’s statements that the government shared responsibility for the Russian embargo by not abstaining for the European Commission decision to impose sanctions on Russia for Ukraine, Ms. Voultepsi blasted Alexis Tsipras for “trying to deceive the Greek farmers” and calling on Greece to differentiate itself from common EU decisions.
