The government has decided to extend the number of installments in which the new Single Property Ownership Tax (ENFIA) can be paid to six, with the last one due in February.
In order to reduce the burden on taxpayers, the Finance Ministry will also change the way in which it taxes plots of land in some 4,000 areas. Note that, for these areas, there are no so-called objective values to be used for the calculation of the amount to be paid.
Based on the calculations so far, the owners of these plots will pay a total of 167 million euros less that they were originally asked to.
It should be noted that a delegation of junior coalition government partner PASOK party MPs met on Friday with Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis and other ministry officials in order to discuss matters possible corrections to ENFIA.
Later on the same day, the officials of the Ministry of Finance met with a delegation of deputies of New Democracy (ND) to discuss the same issue.
