UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon stated today that political dialogue in order to end the Ukraine conflict is needed.
He expressed his displeasure that the talks between Russia and Ukraine only lasted two days.
“There is no military solution to this crisis. There should be a political dialogue for a political solution, it is the most sustainable way”, he said from Auckland, New Zealand.
Around 2600 people have died since April when the conflict in eastern parts of the Ukraine began after the annexation of Crimea to Russia.
Talks between Russia, Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists are to resume on Friday in the capital of Belarus, Minsk.
As Ban Ki-Moon stated, this is a period of instability and unrest.
“We need strong support, coordination and solidarity of all members of the United Nations”, he commented.
