11,000 Greek pensioners will receive a single lump sum by Christmas

A 200 million euro "breath" from the exceptional grant

Newsroom September 10 10:58

By the end of 2014, 11.000 pensioners will receive their long waiting single lump sum thanks to the exceptional grant which the Public Provident Fund will receive. A 200 million euro “breath” will be returned to the Fund in order to meet its obligations.
According to the manager of the fund while speaking to the Greek TV channel Mega, that move, will enable 6.000 pensioners of the public sector to receive the one off lump sum until December, while 16.000 have already received it by the 31st of August and another 11.000 pensioners will receive it in the near future with the exceptional grant.
Which means that for the whole of 2014 a total of 27.000 will be paid in single lump sums.

Many pension funds are facing serious financial difficulties, as no payments are received. According to official information by the Ministry of Labour, the debts which were forwarded to the center of collection amount to 10.4 million euro per pension fund. These are:
ΙΚΑ 7 million euro
ΟΑΕΕ 2,3 million euro
ΟGΑ 197 million euro
EBRD 60 million euro
