The Parliament committee discussed the 30% reduction of excise duty on heating oil and kerosene that provides the amendment signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance and subscribed by the Minister of Education, which was filed in the bill of the Ministry of Education for religious communities.
According to the explanatory memorandum of the amendment:” the excise duties reduction of 30%, not only it will produce a tax relief for the heating oil and kerosene consumers but it will also increase the consuming of both products and at the same time will tackle the environmental pollution and the use of substitute products “.
With the above amendment the excise duty from the 15th of October of 2014 until the 30th of April 2015, will be reduced from 330 euro per kiloliter to 230 euro.
It is worth mentioning that the reduction of excise duty was announced by the Greek Prime Minister on the 7th of September in Thessaloniki.
