The 19-year-old Australian tourist that was injured during a shootout between the police and fugitive Nikos Maziotis in the Monastiraki region is now seeking compensation from the Greek state. The lawyers representing Grant Nicholas Ourani state that though he “was not seriously injured and was offered proper medical care in a hospital in Athens”, he still had to continue with treatment in Melbourne and cannot play amateur football as a result of his injury.
Mr. Ourani had been hit by the fugitive firing at the police when he fell to the ground during a chase in July. At the time, both Mr. Ourani and a German tourist had been injured. The German refused hospital care and continued with a cruise around the Greek isles. The Australian holidaymaker had been shot in the foot and was visited in tehe hospital by the Greek ministers for health, public order and tourism.
