Piraeus Port Authority to sell off abandoned ships and boats

The terms for the auctions will be posted on the PPA website within the next few days.

The Piraeus Port Authority announced on Thursday its intention to sell off ships and boats that have been abandoned within the docking areas of the largest port in Greece, by organizing open auctions.

More specifically, an auction will be held at at Perama on October 29, where the following shops will go on sale:

‘Georgia M’, at a starting price of 18,080 euros
Fishing boat ‘Artemis’ at a starting price of 12,800 euros
Fishing boat ‘Saronikos’ at the starting price of 16,800 euros

Another auction will be held on October 31 to sell off the following vessels:
Tanker ‘Melina’ at a starting price of 61,500 euros
Tanker ‘Maroula’ at a starting price of 80,000 euros.
On the same day, the freighter ‘Christos-I’ at Ambelakia, Salamina will be auctioned at a starting price of 26,880 euros.

The terms for the auctions will be posted on the PPA website within the next few days.

“The aim is to remove all abandoned ships and shipwrecks currently obstructing free navigation and placing an environmental burden on the port and local communities,” Piraeus Port Authority President and CEO George Anomeritis said, adding that 74 abandoned and half-sunken boats left within port premises had been removed since the start of the program.
