The clock is ticking on Hong Kong protesters ultimatum for city leader to resign

On his part, the Hong Kong leader plays the waiting game.

Newsroom October 2 02:13

Thousand of Hong Kong residents are protesting for the sixth straight day the new election rules that allow Beijing to screen candidates for the city’s top office.

The pro-democracy demonstrators demand autonomy and open elections and threaten to escalate their protests, saying they would occupy government buildings, unless their midnight ultimatum for the resignation of Hong Kong’s leader Leung Chun-ying is met.

In the last few hours, students and members of the “Occupy Central” movement have blocked the entrance to the Leung Chun-ying’s office, who is currently considered the most hated man in the country.

On his part, the Hong Kong leader plays “the waiting game.” According to foreign media reports, he intends to sit out the protest, waiting for the momentum to slow.
