While clashes between the demonstrators and the police continue, the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong who have paralyzed the former British colony, were called by the authorities to dissolve until tomorrow, Monday and allow the city to get back to normal.
The head of the local government, Leung Chun-ying, whom the protesters demand to resign, expressed the determination of the authorities to “take all necessary measures to restore public order”.
The seven million residents should be allowed “to regain a normal life and a normal activity,” he said while speaking on television, when tens of thousands of protesters are gathered in the center of Hong Kong to denounce the violence against them by angry residents, among whom were supporters of the Beijing, people of the triplets and the Chinese mafia.
With slogans such as “Peace! Anti-violence”, the protesters had gathered near the headquarters of the local government.
Currently the number of demonstrators has reduced. It remains to be seen if they will returned to their homes just to rest, as during the week, or if the message by the authorities was enough to put an end.
