Ebola in Spain: Doctors did everything in their power for the virus to…spread

The infected with Ebola woman was separated by the rest of the patients only by curtains - severe deficiencies in care of the nurse who contracted Ebola - The lack of adequate structures to address such a deadly epidemic is very worrying

Newsroom October 8 07:17

In the meantime, the international press raises questions of how did the woman got infected by the deadly virus, since is transmitted by bodily fluids of the patient, with press reports noting that the protective suit that she nurse wore did not comply with the requirements of the Health Organization.

At the same time according to the incident registry book, the nurse was not transferred immediately to a special isolated room, but only a set of curtains separated her from the rest of the patients.

The 44 year old nurse remained among other patients and staff for quite some time, while, it appears that the nurses who did the tests on her were not wearing special protective clothing.

Representative of Independent Union of Employees (CSI-F) Elena Moral, said that the transfer of the missionary infected with Ebola was “unprepared” while she stressed that there are adequate structures for an epidemic of this size.

However, the patient herself had previously made an attempt to explain and describe to the El Pais newspaper of how she got infected, by stating that there is a possibility that she didn’t clean thoroughly enough her uniform after the disinfection which was carried out in the room after the death of the missionary.

“I believe that I got infected when I took the uniform off. Is the most possible time although is not for certain”, she stated while she expressed her hope to overcome quickly the disease and to return home soon.

Doctors on the other hand, believe that is most likely to have been infected from the gloves, that she touched her face with while trying to take off her uniform.

According to the Spanish newspaper the patient nurse Romero Ramos in a very low and tired voice said “I have no temperature today, am feeling better”.

She remains patiently to her bed, looking constantly on her mobile, without getting any updates of what is said or going on outside the special unit that she is hospitalized.

The Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rahoi expressed his fear for the virus spread by stating that a team has been especially created to monitor the course of the epidemic, so after investigating, they will then be able to explain to citizens of everything that is happening.
