Mr. Antonis Samaras while speaking at the extraordinary summit in Milan for employment, appeared optimistic for employment decrease in Greece, while he stressed that Europe will face the problem only as only a joint effort, available resources and political support of public and private investment.
In his intervention the Prime Minister highlighted that: ” I appeal to you as Prime Minister of the country with the highest unemployment rate among the EU countries. However, you see me being optimistic, because the Greeks with many personal sacrifices have managed ” to set sail towards financial development.” Greece has left behind the most critical and very difficult six year period of recession. In this quarter, our economy for the first time in six years is positive and development in 2015 will be strong and sustainable. ”
Further, Mr. Samaras said that a fiscal and structural agenda has already been implemented and most of the structural reforms are underway, while unemployment despite its small but steady defusing still remains very high. He also refereed to ‘frontload’ labor market policies, with the sole objective of higher employment growth.
The Prime Minister concluded by stressing that” Europe must convey to our nations a concrete hope based on solid foundations, development work, dignity and perspective”.
