The debate on confidence vote will conclude today and a great conflict is expected to be seen between Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and main coalition party leader Alexis Tsipras.
According to reports, Antonis Samaras will focus on how the government managed to achieve Greece’s exit from memorandum and lash out at main opposition party’s tactics.
On the other hand, the opposition leader will insist on the need for early elections.
The first two days, though, of the debate were of no significant importance, since the MPs of coalition government failed to clarify the strategy which will be followed after the memorandum period, whereas the opposition did not develop a plan on how a possible SYRIZA government would function.
Therefore, the debate interest will be shifted to the positions expressed by specific ministers and independent MPs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos unleashed an attack against the ” drachma lobby which attempts to prevent the country’s exit from the crisis” and the political forces that promise an “imaginary paradise”. Regarding the red loans, he preannounced “radical and practical solutions and not only words”.
Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis highlighted the need for political stability.
On SYRIZA’s side, Panagiotis Lafazanis noted that the opposition is not against the national understanding and called all political forces to “fight for writing-off part of the debt”.
