Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Yiannis Maniatis participated yesterday in a seminar on “Hydrocarbon Exploration and Exploitation in the Epirus Region,” which was held in the northwestern Greek city of Ioannina.

He underlined that exploiting Greece’s mineral wealth with respect for the environment was a national strategy for creating a new market and a new economic sector in Greece.

He also mentioned that Greece has started exploiting its mineral sources which will result in new revenues, exceeding 550 million euros within 20 years, and new job positions and added that the discussion that began symbolically in Ioannina will continue in other areas of the country.
