EU Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker will entrust Greek Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, with the portfolio of European Citizenship.

In detail, while presenting the priorities of the new EU Commission to be approved by the European Parliament, the new EC president announced his intention to entrust the portfolio to Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos.

Arguign that the EU was less than what the circumstances called for in fighting Ebola in Africa, Jean-Claude Juncker stated that he already asked Mr. Avramopoulos and Cypriot Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides to go to Africa in order to show the EU’s presence and aid in combating the virus.

Mr. Juncker stated that he was saddened by the realization that Europe had not mobilized to combat the virus while the cases in Africa were multiplying. The new EC president stated that the EU only mobilized when there were Ebola cases in Europe.
