The Greek Wine Federation characterized 2014 as a very difficult year due to the weather conditions, which caused a decline by 15% percent in the production.

However, the prices of grapes for winemaking increased in most areas of the country.

The majority of wine producers in Greece faced a series of problems in 2014, including rainfall in the period of flowering, early showers in September, slow ripening and harvest at low points to avoid the rot of grapes.

It should also be noted that, even though the production fell in the Aegean islands and Crete, the quality was considered exceptional.
