Emma Bond’s photograph showing her breastfeeding was taken down from Facebook after it was deemed to being indecent. The photo was taken down due to complaints of nudity. Ms. Bond later uploaded to a pro-breastfeeding group where it attracted over 250,000 “likes” but then users who shared the photo found their links were deleted.
After the photo went viral, Facebook reconsidered its policy and republished the photo. A Facebook spokeswoman said breastfeeding photos have never been against Facebook’s community standards, however nipples had to be covered or concealed.
