According to the President of Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloemh, themeasures proposed by the Greek government constitute of significant progress but more must be done.
He also expressed the belief that Athens must do more while did not indicate as to when Troika will return. AS noted within the Eurogroup there was “strong support” for a precautionary credit line for Greece.
According to the President of Eurogroup, Greek economy will need to be monitored, while all agreed that the IMF involvement in Greece will increase reliability in any solution. Further, he noted that the Greek government must firstly complete the program and everything after will be discussed again after the 1st of January.
Mr. Dijsselbloemh also referred of how positive is the fact that stress tests showed that the Greek Banks have minimum requirements for new capital, however he assured that the completion of the evaluation is a prerequisite for a debate on the next steps.
Further, while Jeroen Dijsselbloemh was asked about the Greek debt he replied that first the evaluation of Troika must be completed on Thursday and then to discuss the debt sustainability.
According to reports the Greek side came under pressure to obtain that package, which is required in the echelons of the IMF, EU and ECB to return to Athens.
Pierre Moscovici also referred to the return of Troika in Greece, which according to him it will be by the end of next week.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that some “anonymous” Ministers of Finance from countries that have exited of assistance programs, appeared tough negotiators towards Greece and demanded more guarantees from our country in order to discuss any further debt relief.
However, despite to any statements by the “anonymous” the general climate in Brussels seems positive for Greece with an open possibility to reach a comprehensive agreement.
