Police authorities of 33 state members of Interpol already exchange information related to foreign citizens traveling to Syria and Iraq to join the jihad (holy war), a phenomenon that was the focus of the work of the 83rd annual general meeting of the organization and which was completed today in Monaco.
All 190 state members of the International Criminal Police Organization have access to the information, even if they are not participating to the exchange process.
The shared lists although there are still in a premature stage include almost 820 names .
Suspects of extremist activities are also included in the “red bulletins” of Interpol, which allows authorities to arrest them once they cross the border.
It is worth mentioning that many fighters of foreign countries travelling to Syria and Iraq have to their possession valid passports which however are easy to be cancelled.
