The Municipality of Herakleion, Crete, is offering free breakfast to high school students from families that have financial problems. The decision was made after students from the 3^rd General Lyceum (Senior High School) of Herakleion visited Deputy Mayor Athina Spanaki Kohiadaki and expressed their problems.

The students asked Ms. Spanaki for the municipality’s help in finding a solution for problems that they face as a result of the economic crisis. Not only can families not afford to give their children basic food supplies, but there are also problems regarding buying exercise books and other school supplies.
