Hellenic Motor Museum

People infatuated by cars should definitely visit to see the best that Greece has to offer including cars no longer in existence

Newsroom November 9 09:52

A stone’s throw away from the National Archaeology Museum lies the Hellenic Motor Museum, a three-floor car sanctuary, where visitors can admire more than 110 unique exhibits from the global automative industry.

The collection is rotating and has exhibits from companies that no longer exist, like Avion Voisin, Adler, Packard, Facel Vega, Delage, Iso, Dino, Stranguelini, Siata, Frazer Nash, HRG etc. That’s not to say that visitors can’t admire vintage cars from famous current manufacturers such as Bentley, Rolls Royce, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati and then some!

Apart from the brilliant display, visitors can admire masterpieces of the automotive industry, visitors can experience the thrill of driving at a Formula 1 Grand Prix thanks to an F1 similar while pondering whether Greece will ever get its Formula 1 track (CLICK HERE). Visitors can also drive through an old car workshop complete with fixtures.

Surprising is the trek through history that the museum offers, showcasing the evolution of the car from 300 B.C. to the end of the 20th century.

Currently on display apart from the permanent exhibition is the “Made in Hellas” display that casts the focus on Greek car designs that are a “hymn to the creativity of Greeks and the spirit of innovation through the latest exhibits and will take up 40% of the Museum surface that is the entire top and most important floor.”

The Museum is open from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The HMM is located at Capitol Mall, 33 Julianou Street, Athens, tel +302108816187. General admission is at 8 euros for adults and 5 euros for children from 6-12 years and students, pensioners and groups of four people or more. There is an additional fee of 7 euros for entering the F1 simulator and free entrance for children under 6 years. For a sneak preview visit the site – http://www.hellenicmotormuseum.gr/
