The gap between Mr. Giorgos Papandreou and current president Evangelos Venizelos becomes entrenched in PASOK.
Following yesterday’s meeting between the two men, the former Prime Minister sent a letter to the President of PASOK expressing his complete disassociating perpendicularly from the path outlined by the current leader.
In his letter among other Mr. Papandreou calls for an unscheduled party conference aimed at electing a new president and revels that he will not be a candidate in the national elections with the Democratic side set up by Mr. Venizelos, as he is opposed to the specific choice made.
Further in the announcement the former Prime Minister indicates that “PASOK needs a wake and a democratic political shock to recover” and added that “The party’s current processes have little to do with society and its needs “.
Mr. Papandreou continue by saying that “As long as there are no initiatives in this direction the political landscape will be immersed in instability, with negative effects on the overall balance and progress of the country that now we all understand and recognize, even those who waged the leveling of PASOK”.
“Today, one after the other vindicate the choices of PASOK (political formations – old and emergent), Some scrouge off PASOK shamelessly while all of them demean it”.
“Now, we ought to respect and defend it”.
“The History and the course of PASOK including any changes within and its future, concerns all of us and all decisions should be made by us”.

“The responsibility for fostering genuine unity with our complete dedication and respect to our principles, belongs to all of us and individually”.
“This ensures that the historical role and mission of our Movement to respond to the real challenges of our country and the Greek people”.
“The responsibility to make appropriate initiatives in this direction belongs to the leadership of the Movement, which is required to work with a creative spirit”.
