A cooperation memorandum was signed yesterday, December 2, between the Defence Ministry and the Smile of the Child, a non-profit voluntary organization that deals with the daily problems children encounter.
Alternate Defence Minister Fofi Gennimata signed the memorandum together with the organization’s president Konstantinos Giannopoulos.
Based on this cooperation agreement, the ministry will support Smile of the Child on its mission to defend children’s rights, not just on paper but in practice as well, providing services to children on a 24-hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year-basis, working for their physical, mental, and psychological stability.
More specifically, the ministry will inform its staff about the option of voluntary participation in the organization’s activities, including the donation of products, the planning of bazaars and fund-raising events, as well as providing healthcare services to children at military hospital outpatient clinics.
Moreover, the ministry has committed to assist in the search and rescue efforts for missing children.
