According to the results of a survey conducted by The Boston Consulting Group, The Network and skywalker.gr that were released on December 3, almost 60% of Greeks are willing to move abroad to find work, a percentage slightly lower than the global average of 64%.

Young Greeks are not so eager to leave their country and prefer to search for a job in the place where they were born before resorting to other alternatives, the survey, titled “Decoding Global Talent,” showed.

More specifically, only 5.0% of Greeks asked have already moved abroad, while 55% said they were willing to leave their country in search for a job. The UK (18%), Switzerland (13%) and the United States (12%) are the top destinations for Greeks searching for jobs, followed by Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Canada, Cyprus and Mexico.

The survey was conducted on a sample of 200,000 people from 189 countries and focused on today’s global workforce, everything from what people in different parts of the world expect of their jobs to what would prompt them to move to another country for work.

As for the top reason that prompts Greek to search for a work abroad, that is economic uncertainty, followed by better career opportunities and better living standards in second and third place.
