In his commentary on working with the late Robin Williams in his last action movie, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, director Shawn Levy describes a moving moment he shared with the beloved actor, when they were filming at the British Museum and most specifically at the hall where the Parthenon Marbles are kept.

The actor’s reaction to these masterpieces of Ancient Greece and his awe show us that great artists know how to appreciate great art and remind us of William’s quality of character.

It is reminded that in an interview to Proto Thema newspaper, Robin Williams had said the following in regard to the financial crisis in Greece and the country’s culture:

“The whole of humanity should bow down to Greek history. Your economy may be bad, but that doesn’t mean you are powerless. The financial affairs are constantly changing for everyone in Europe and America. What remains a constant, is your heritage and identity. The Parthenon will not leave Athens. It is there to remind everyone that progress and prosperity can return once more.”

The talented actor committed suicide on August 11, 2014.
