An American financier, founder of hedge fund Wainscott Capital Partners was found dead on Sunday in his luxury apartment in Manhattan, according to NYPD.

US media states that the 70 year old Thomas Gilbert was shot with a bullet to the head by a young man claimed to be his son.

The mother of the 30 year old man alerted EMTs when she found Gilbert in his bedroom with a revolver beside him, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The New York Port, which also relies on official sources stated that the broker was killed during a brawl with his son, who immediately fled and was subsequently arrested.

According to a police spokesman, the man was dead on the spot.
