Socialist PASOK Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos said that Greece needs a national unity government during his speech at Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese on Sunday. Mr. Venizelos said that PASOK will withstand the challenge presented and noted the deep roots the party has in the regions of Messinia and Kalamata. He said that the city gives a sense of optimism that should become a symbol for the entire country.
Mr. Venizelos justified PASOK’s stand and said that the difficult path the party chose helped the country avert disaster. He said that it doesn’t matter who is first or second but who will have the third mandate because he will be the regulator and guarantor of stability.
