American mountaineer Lonnie Dupre accomplished an incredible feat a few days ago, by becoming the first solo climber to summit Mount McKinley, also known as Denali, in January.

The news were announced by Dupre’s official facebook page and were then verified by Stevie Plummer, Dupre’s expedition manager.

It should be noted that this was Dupre’s fourth attempt at a January solo summit of the 20,237-foot mountain, which is the highest mountain peak in North America.

Dupre had turned back in each of his three previous attempts, after encountering rough weather and sub-zero temperatures.

Last Sunday, the persistent mountaineer posted on his page an image showing his latitude and longitude based on a GPS tracker he had with him along with the message “All OK, Doing Well.”
