Newsroom January 20 11:49

Last week’s brutal footage of Burmese woman Lalla Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim being publicly beheaded in Mecca after Saudi Arabian courts ordered her execution gained a great deal of international publicity. The man who filmed the footage has been arrested and will face unspecified charges at a Saudi Arabian military court as well as in a sharia court.

The footage, removed by Youtube as “shocking and disgusting content” prompted global outrage. It showed how it took three blows to complete the execution of the woman who protested her innocence. “I did not kill! I did not kill!” she protested while being held down by four policemen.

The man who filmed the footage is unnamed but believed to be one of the policemen assigned to work on preparations for the execution. It was filmed on his cell phone, according to Gulf news.

Due to the high publicity of the execution, astatement was released on the official website of the Saudi Ministry of Interior that says that the death penalty in the Burmese woman’s case was warranted due to the “enormity of the crime,” and was carried out to “restore security”.

“It implements the rulings of God against all those who attack innocents and spill their blood. The government warns all those who are seduced into committing a similar crimes that the rightful punishment is their fate,” the statement said.
