Spanish leftist Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias said that a wind of change is “blowing” through Europe following his attendance at the main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) pre-election rally at Omonia Square in Athens on Thursday. He said that Greek citizens have an “opportunity for change” from German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s delegate.
Regarding the meaning of the Greek change for Spain, he said that SYRIZA is the “name of change in Greece” just as “Podemos is the name of change in Spain”. He expressed that it is the duty of the parties to protect the people and said that it was time that negotiations with the German government took place. “Not any more will there be people without the protection of the government,” he said, speaking to the Athens News Agency.
