Politics often make for strange bedfellows, a phrase relived on Sunday night when French National Front (FN) founder Jean-Marie Le Pen described leftist SYRIZA’s election victory in Greece as a “repudiation” of the European Union.
The controversial French nationalist political leader further expressed his doubts that the party of the radical left “would do as it promised.”
“Due to the amount of pressure which will be exerted on him, I consider that the party’s leader will fail to fulfill his promises,” was the elder Le Pen’s forecast.
Furthermore, he admitted that the nationalist party he founded, and which is now led by his daughter, Marine Le Pen, does not share the same positions with SYRIZA, although he welcomed the election result as chipping away at the EU’s armor.
