The Hellenic Center for Research and Action for Missing Persons AMKE has launched its Omnibus Alert program to locate missing adults. The program aims to find missing people between the ages of 18 to 60 who are neither covered by the programs of Amber Alert for children nor silver alert for adults.
The idea of the service is to find missing people over the age of 18 but to also identify lost people and return them to their family environments.
Conditions
An Omnibus Alert is activated when all or some of the following conditions are fulfilled:
• Missing Person’s age is 18-60 years old.
• The missing adult is facing health problems and consequently medical care or psychosocial support is considered urgent.
• The adult is missing under exceptional circumstances (natural disasters, shipwreck, fire, car accident, possible fall in inaccessible areas, etc.).
• The Police recognize that Omnibus Alert’s activation may have positive contribution to the overall research process.
Omnibus Alert’s activation can also take place in close cooperation with the Police in cases of traced Unknown Identity Adults, whose health condition demands urgent care (amnesia patients, Alzheimer’s disease patients, multiple injured patients, etc), as well as the presence and the support of the traced adult’s family.
Documents
An Omnibus Alert is activated when the following documents are submitted to the NGO Omnibus:
• Passport or police ID of the Declarer (the person who has filled out the Missing Person’s Declaration Form in any Hellenic Police department).
• A copy of the Missing Person’s Declaration Form that was filled out in any Hellenic Police department.
• A relevant photo of the missing adult.
• A medical document concerning the health problems the missing adult is facing, which make clear that the missing adult needs urgent psychosocial or medical care.
• A solemn declaration (Article 8 Law 1599/1986) of the Declarer that the information given for the missing adult is true and valid, that he agree to the publicizing process of the photo and other details of the missing adult and that he takes responsibility over any third party for activating Omnibus Alert.
