A new change in weather conditions will occur starting today (25/01), mainly during the two-day period of Monday and Tuesday, bringing rain, thunderstorms, snowfall in mountainous areas, gale-force southerly winds, as well as African dust and temperatures around 20°C.

More specifically:

Rain – thunderstorms are forecast:

• Monday–Tuesday, mainly in western Greece, eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese, and Crete.

In particular, on Monday, rain and thunderstorms will also occur in Attica.

According to meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafilias, “the system that appears to affect Attica again does not, for the time being, seem to have particularly strong dynamics.”

Southerly winds up to 8–9 Beaufort:

• Today in the Ionian Sea and Monday and Tuesday in the Aegean.

Snow:

• On Monday in northern mountainous areas.

Saharan dust:

• Today–Monday, mainly in western and southern Greece.

Temperature:

• Remaining at high levels for the season. Close to 20°C in the lowlands of central and northern Greece.

Rain is forecast during the early morning hours in eastern Attica, eastern and southern Peloponnese, Evia, Crete, the islands of the Aegean, gradually spreading to western Greece and northern mainland areas. Thunderstorms will occur in the islands of the eastern Aegean, the Cyclades, and the Dodecanese.

• Western Macedonia: -2 to 9°C
• Rest of Macedonia: 1 to 12°C
• Thrace: 3 to 12°C
• Epirus: 4 to 15°C
• Thessaly: 3 to 14°C
• Central Greece: 5 to 16°C
• Peloponnese: 2 to 16°C
• Ionian Islands: 8 to 16°C
• Northern Aegean islands: 7 to 16°C
• Other Aegean islands: 12 to 15–18°C
• Crete: 8 to 19°C

Winds will blow from southerly directions at 3–5 Beaufort.

Attica: Increased cloudiness at times with local rain until the morning, mainly in the eastern parts of the prefecture. Winds variable and weak. Temperatures from 6 to 15°C.

Thessaloniki: Increased cloud cover with local rain. Winds variable at 2–3 Beaufort. Temperatures from 2 to 11°C.

Weather on Monday 26-01-2026

Cloudy with local rain and scattered thunderstorms across most of the country. The phenomena may be locally strong in western and northern regions and the eastern Aegean. Snowfall will occur in mountainous areas of western and northern Greece.

Winds:

• West: west–southwesterly 4–6 Beaufort
• East: southerly 5–7 Beaufort, locally 8 Beaufort in the Aegean, gradually weakening

Temperatures will drop slightly in terms of maximum values in central and northern regions.

In eastern mainland Greece, the eastern Aegean, the Cyclades, and Crete: increased cloudiness with rain and scattered thunderstorms. In the rest of the country: occasional cloud cover with light, scattered rain. Light snowfall in mountainous mainland areas.

Winds:

• West: northwesterly 4–6 Beaufort
• East: southerly 4–6 Beaufort, locally 7 Beaufort in the south, gradually turning to westerly–northwesterly after midday

Temperatures will see a slight decrease in the east.

In the eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese: cloudiness with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, gradually weakening. In the rest of the country: few clouds increasing in the west, with local rain after midday.

• East: west–southwesterly 4–5 Beaufort

Temperatures will rise slightly in western areas.
