We are in the last stretch before the polls close (at 19.00 local time), and the result is still unknown.
While waiting for four exit polls that will show the final result at exactly 7 o’clock, the rumor mill is already rolling. There have also been statements released by the Association of Greek Market & Opinion Research Companies (SEDEA) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR) concerning exit polls and information contained therein that it can be completely wrong.
SEDEA also underlines that exit polls do not showcase a winner but answers the question on who and why voted for their party.
SEDEA clarifies that exit polls are successful when their result is give or take 3% away from the final result, but there have been cases of the contrary.
The New Democracy party has asked officials to undertake an investigation against blogs which have publicized unofficial exit polls more than two hours before the law dictates they can.
