President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias called SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on the phone on Sunday to congratulate him on his party’s victory in the country’s general elections.

Tomorrow at noon, the President of the Republic will be handed the official election results by the chairman of the House, Vangelis Meimarakis.

Then, Alexis Tsipras will meet with Karolos Papoulias. If SYRIZA has achieved absolute majority, Mr. Papoulias will present Mr. Tsipras with a mandate to form a government.

Otherwise SYRIZA will be given the first exploratory mandate.
