Anti-austerity Independent Greeks (ANEL) spokeswoman Marina Chrysoveloni said that ensuring tax justice is an issue that her party, in coalition with the government, considers “an uncrossable line”. She said that the party was committed to take the lists of tax evaders and make them pay without immunity, cover-ups or further delay, a key promise in ANEL’s pre-election campaign. She said that the fair distribution of the tax burden should be in line with the Constitutional provision so that all should contribute according to their ability. “First off, this means abolishing the joint real estate ownership tax (ENFIA), rejecting any ideas for an overall taxation of the property of Greeks and a fast readjustment of tax office-assessed property values so that they reflect the actual price of real estate,” she noted.
