The celebrated Benaki Museum in Athens hosts an exhibition marking the launch of a graphic novel by Soloúp (Antonis Nikolopoulos), a Greek comic artist and cartoonist. On display are images, original drawings and drafts of Aivali, on the western Asia Minor coast.
Themed exhibits illustrate the construction and narration of the story in comic form, as well as the use of sources such as postcards, old photographs, uniforms and ships. Also on display are rare photographs and archival material that came to light during research.
The exhibition takes the audience on a journey in time. The Asia Minor disaster and the Treaty of Lausanne, seen through the eyes of third and fourth-generation descendants of refugees.
