The display runs at the Archaeological Museum of Dion from March 8 through to July 5

Newsroom March 6 07:38

The Dion Archaeological Museum’s “Opening Roads” exhibition of findings from salvage excavations from 2008-2013 kicks off in Northern Greece at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 8. The artifacts on show were found at roadworks carried out to build a segment of the national road.

Most of the exhibits were found at the road axis of Klidi, west of Thessaloniki, to Maliakos, the gulf between the mainland and the northern part of the island of Evia.

An announcement by the Ministry of Culture points to the significance of the artifacts that alter what we know about Mycenaean culture, adding to the already existent body of knowledge of Macedonian tomb architecture.

Artifacts are on view until July 5, 2015, and cover a range of periods, from Middle and Late Bronze Age, through Classical to Hellenistic times, with samples from the Roman Era.
