The German federal statistical office recorded a new historic record for 2014, reporting that 8.2 million people emigrated to the central European economic powerhouse last year.
According to the German agency, six out of the 10 new arrivals came from other EU countries.
Specifically, 87,945 Romanians, 36,435 Bulgarians, 21,195 Hungarians, 64,297 Poles and 11,307 Spaniards chose Germany as their new home, with an equal number of Italians and Greeks, 12,233, respectively.
