26 year old Lizzie Velásquez used her “ugliness” as a weapon against bullying

“A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story”, is the title of the documentary premiered at the music and documentary festivals “South by Southwest” in ‘Austin, Texas.
The 26 year old Texan Lizzie Velásquez was born with a very rare syndrome which doesn’t allow her to gain any weight and has lost sight in her right eye.
Only other two people in the whole world suffer from the same syndrome.

After a moving speech she made at TED 2013 about her life and the intimidation she suffered based on her appearance, she decided to use her unique looks in a self-financed campaign against bulling.
When she was just 17 years old, she saw on YouTube a not so flattering video about her, entitled “The ugliest woman in the world”, including the usual nasty comments.
She was so brave, that instead of putting herself down, she decided to devote her life to the fight against bullying …
