Alternate Culture Minister Nikos Xydakis visited the archeological site of the Athens Acropolis to meet with staff and technicians involved in restoration work on the monument.
Xydakis also visited the souvenir shop, ticket office and wheelchair access elevator.
Speaking to the press, Xydakis said that he carried out the visit in order to pay homage to the monument itself and to the people that had worked for decades on “the most ambitious restoration project in the world, as well as those that daily ensure the smooth running of the archeological site as a whole.”
The visit gave the alternate minister the chance to be briefed by the chief experts handling the restoration work and also get a chance to meet guards and other workers who are in a position to share practical ways in which services offered to visitors can be improved.
